volunteer opportunities
- Victoria School of the Arts is looking for a community badminton coach. For more information contact Gina Willier, Athletic Director, by email gina.willier@epsb.ca or by phone 780-228-8683.
- Young Alberta Book Society is a local charity that works to improve Albertan children’s literacy through programming that brings together professional authors and illustrators with students in K-12 schools. They have a program in February for which they're seeking volunteers.
- Story Avenue is a set of conference-style writing workshops for Grades 5 and 6 students. We’re seeking volunteers to help out with set-up, room supervision, and tear-down on February 23 and/or February 24, 2023, from about 8:30am to noon at the Centre for Education on 1 Kingsway in Edmonton. Volunteers may be leading groups of students from the central area to their workshop room, providing general student supervision (i.e. just be an adult presence in the room – any specific discipline issues will be dealt with by school staff), and providing assistance as requested by the workshop instructor. The instructors are all professional Albertan children’s book authors and illustrators, so the volunteers get to see them in action with elementary kids. Anyone interested is asked to email Stephanie Gregorwich, Executive Director, at ed@yabs.ab.ca or call 780-422-8232.
