About Us
Black Gold School Division extends from the hamlet of New Sarepta in the east to the village of Warburg in the west. It includes the municipalities of Beaumont, Devon, Thorsby, Calmar, and Leduc. The division employs over 1,200 staff providing exemplary educational services to approximately 12,000 students. Core Purpose & Values Black Gold’s core purpose is to inspire success through provision of the highest possible standard of educational opportunities. The following core values define the Division, guide behavior, and shape strategies:
Education Services Black Gold provides its students with excellent services: strong academic programs, vibrant French Immersion and second languages programs, hockey and soccer academies, inclusive education, flourishing early childhood services, and exciting opportunities for trades training and secondary apprenticeships. Our high schools offer a vast number of Career and Technology Studies (CTS) courses to meet the diverse needs and interests of students. Why Join Our Team? Black Gold School Division is committed to people and fosters a supportive work environment that encourages passion and excellence. Black Gold values respect, cooperation, flexibility, safety, and life-long learning. Along with these values, the division is committed to providing and promoting a learning and working environment, which fosters respect for the dignity and well-being of students, parents, volunteers, employees, and trustees. Black Gold School Division believes that beginning teachers come into the classroom with basic skills and an understanding of what constitutes effective teaching. Recognizing that beginning teachers need support to grow these skills, Black Gold provides support through on-going professional development. The Division offers a number of professional development opportunities during its six school-based/Division-coordinated professional development days. A professional learning library with hundreds of books is available to all teachers supporting them in their pursuit of exemplary instructional strategies. |
