Fort Vermilion School Division
“Our Children, Our Students, Our Future”
The Fort Vermilion School Division is a rural district that services populations of Indigenous and Mennonite students, as well as a large mix of other cultures. Our vision focusses all the work we do around the children, students and future of the MacKenzie County. Our goal is to provide all our teachers with the supports and Professional Development necessary to ensure FVSD students are finding success. A focus on connections, literacy and numeracy ensure that budgeting and staffing are placed in the correct places to create success at the school level. Found in the northwest corner of Alberta, you will find FVSD to be rural rather than “isolated.” The Fort Vermilion School Division is made up of 16 schools and slightly over 3500 students that are spread over a large geographic area. The Peace River flows through the middle of our large forested areas and farming regions. Industry in the area is made up of farming, logging, sawmills and a small amount of oil and gas. If you enjoy snowmobiling, cross-country skiing, getting outdoors and spending time in nature than this is the place for you. The region is continuing to grow and foster a sense of family and community. You will find affordable housing and commodities to purchase. Tim Hortons, Canadian Tire, Rona and Home Hardware are some of the standard chain stores you will find in our region. Testimonials Please take the opportunity to hear what current staff, former staff and the Board Chair have to say about the Fort Vermilion School Division and the surrounding areas. |
