Surrey Christian School is an independent, preK-12 school with over 1200 students consisting of two elementary campuses (preK-7), one secondary campus (8-12) and one satellite early learning campus.
We believe that our mission statement, Educating for Wholeness by Engaging God’s World in the Servant Way of Jesus, is an invitation for our students and staff to partner with God in the restoring of his Kingdom, in the making of all things new. At Surrey Christian School, we practice making learning centered classrooms in which both the teachers and students have important roles to play in fulfilling our mission statement. Teachers design learning experiences that invite and nurture students to connect the curriculum to God’s story; and that empower our students to practice justice seeking, community building, and God worshiping while they explore their roles as scientists, historians, athletes, musicians and writers. We recognize that our vision for teachers and students to be fully alive in God’s story requires learning experiences to move beyond the walls of our beautiful school facilities. Teachers design learning for students in kindergarten to grade 12 to participate in ‘real work that meets real needs for real people’. When we dream about our graduates, we dream about a kind of person that is using their unique gifts to serve the Kingdom with a passion, competence and humility that they learned from their school, home and church. We recognize that this vision of our graduates requires us to teach and learn in very intentional ways, beginning in kindergarten!
